Introducing …
The Powerhouse - Your Source for Waterpower Insights
In January 2021, the National Hydropower Association will launch a weekly e-communication service available at no charge to anyone working in the waterpower industry.

This service provides curated, individually-personalized:
  • Information
  • Tips
  • Insights
  • intelligence
Through The Powerhouse, recipients will gain insights, learn lessons, and expand their knowledge and understanding … ultimately helping them do their specific jobs more effectively and more cost efficiently.
The Powerhouse service is available to:
  • Any individual working in the waterpower industry (owners/operators/developers and service/product suppliers)
  • Any individual that affects the industry (resource agencies, regulators, power marketers, government entities)

Why Is This Needed?
In today’s world of information overload, we all receive lots of “stuff” – much of which is not directly relevant to our specific day-to-day work.

We have to read and sort through a lot to get to what’s most useful, most relevant. And, that takes time. Time none of us have.
With the advent of The Powerhouse, the National Hydropower Association does the work of gathering and then delivering directly to the reader’s inbox what he/she specifically wants to read.

How is this communication service different from already available industry communications?
NHA is taking advantage of available technologies … machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) … to deliver a “smart” product, individually customized for each recipient - based upon personal digital consumption patterns.

Over time, the AI-tool essentially learns each recipient’s preferences and automatically customizes the content for that individual.

What kinds of content?
  • Insights about policy
  • The “Why” behind market sector developments
  • Practical technical information.
  • Lessons learned
  • Case studies
  • Best practices
  • “how to” information

NHA is committed to deliver articles that are:
  • of high quality
  • delivered in innovative, interesting ways
  • provide added value to readers

Here’s how it will work:
Links in the weekly e-mail lead to articles in a new section of www.hydro.org called “The Powerhouse” – this section will be the place to bookmark for industry information/business intelligence/insights.

www.hydro.org/Powerhouse will feature articles, reports, and video categorized by these topics:
  • Electricity Markets
  • Innovation/Technology
  • Marine Energy (coverage includes wave, tidal, ocean)
  • People (includes workforce issues)
  • Policy Drivers
  • Project Development
  • Regulatory Insights
  • Project Operations

Join NHA’s Rapid Response Policy Team!

As a pilot program for 2020, we created the NHA Rapid Response Policy Team - a small and nimble group, representative of our broad and diverse membership, to advise NHA staff on implementation of the Board’s policy priorities. Participation on the team, which is offered as a voluntary membership upgrade, will enable member organizations to take a more active role in shaping the future of our industry.
